Coronavirus Precautions: Why Massage Is Still Safe During the Pandemic

by | Dec 2, 2020 | Local News & Events

coronavirus precautions

We’ve all had to give up a lot this year due to coronavirus precautions.

Vacations were postponed. Sporting events, concerts, and festivals were canceled. A lot of us started working from home — if we’ve been able to work at all. Now, during the holiday season, many of us will celebrate with our immediate household rather than enjoying time with our extended family.

Despite the challenges we’ve faced in 2020, there is one thing we don’t have to give up: self-care. In fact, now it’s more important than ever to find healthy ways to manage stress while we ride out the remainder of this pandemic.

If you’ve been worried about getting a massage in recent months, we’re here to lay your fears to rest. Here’s why you can be confident that Simply Massage is putting your health and safety first!

Coronavirus Precautions at Simply Massage

Per CDC recommendations, we’re following all reopening guidelines to ensure the safety of our clients and staff. We schedule enough time between sessions to thoroughly clean and disinfect all frequently touched surfaces. These include:

  • Face cradles
  • Chairs
  • Stools
  • Doorknobs
  • Handles
  • Light switches
  • Countertops
  • Tables
  • Shelves
  • Sinks & faucets

We use soap, water, and EPA-approved disinfectant products to ensure all common areas and treatment rooms are safe and clean. We’ve also installed air purifiers in every room.

Appointment times and staff schedules have been altered to ensure there’s no crowding in the lobby, hallways, or staff area. We require all staff and clients to wear a mask at all times while inside Simply Massage. We also have hand sanitizer available in multiple locations throughout our facilities.

Rest assured that we’re complying with all local and federal regulations to provide a relaxing massage experience that’s safe for everyone.

Other Healthy Ways to Cope With Stress

Experts predict that, for many of us, 2020 will be the most difficult and stressful year of our lives. Massage therapy is a scientifically proven way to reduce stress and improve your mental health, but there are other steps you can take too.

Even though we’re practicing physical distancing, that doesn’t mean we need to be alienated from our loved ones. Make time for regular phone calls or video chats with your friends and family members. Try to talk about positive things rather than dwelling on the pandemic. Keep those social connections strong!

It’s also vital to take breaks from watching or listening to the news. We want to stay informed, of course, but endless hours of updates on the pandemic will only add to your stress and anxiety. Make it a point to turn off the TV (and social media) at least once a day and allow yourself to think about other things.

Take good care of your body. Eat healthy foods, limit your alcohol consumption, get plenty of rest, and make time for exercise. Find something that helps you to feel at peace, whether that’s meditating, writing in a journal, working on an art project, or simply taking a walk in our beautiful mountains.
